Sweet Science
Six Year 7 students from Calder High were hosts to 25 students from four other schools in the Halifax Excellence Cluster (Park Lane, Halifax High, The Ridings and Ravenscliffe Schools) in an activity packed day investigating the science behind sweets.

Sweet Science

Questions such as: 'Why does corn pop?', 'What is the difference between tastes and flavours?',  'How can we test the texture of sweets?' - were investigated and of course there was some testing of sweets too!

Sweet Science

The students enjoyed working in cross-school teams and the challenge of problem- solving. Dr George Foster from Science and Humanities Education who led the day complimented the students on their enthusiasm and their application in working at the sweet tasks!
