Modern Foreign Languages
Spanish and French are the languages taught from Year 7 to year 11 at Calder High. (A Levels are offered but are dependent on numbers of students). There are trips to Paris and northern Spain for Yea 7 students and a French exchange takes place each year involving students from all year groups. Voki Challenge
During the enrichment weeks in June 2010, Year 9 students had a chance to use the Voki website to test their language skills. The site enabled them to choose an avatar, type in text in Spanish or French - and then play back their creations. It was an challenging listening experience for the rest of the class to hear and understand what the Voki characters were saying.
