Learning Resource Centre (LRC)
The Learning Resource Centre is a unique space within the school where pupils not only have access to books, videos and computers but they can work in a quiet area - and during break and lunchtime they can play boardgames or read newspapers and magazines.

The LRC is also used for after school clubs and meetings, poetry readings, book signings, training sessions and displays of student art.

The LRC staff aim to be friendly and helpful to staff and pupils alike. But they also have to stand firm on the rules as outlined here - to maintain a calm atmosphere for the benefit of everyone.

The Rules

  • Bags and coats are left on the shelves outside
  • Mobile phones must be switched off before entering
  • Passes must be shown at the desk
  • Years 7-11 must have an admission slip from their teacher during lesson times
  • No food or drink is allowed
  • Only schoolwork can be printed from the computers and all printouts must be paid for

Clubs in the LRC

Computer image

The Cyber Club is open from 3-4pm on Wednesdays. Students can use the LRC computers to play games, surf the Internet, send emails, and maybe even do some homework.

Warhammer
The Warhammer Club meets on Wednesdays after school. Warhammer is a role-playing game, set in a a medieval fantasy world with fledgling cities and a wild countryside with prowling beasts and a rich variety of characters - craftsmen, traders, scholars, wizards...and the ever-present gods. Society is ruled by an emperor supported by a feuding aristocracy. The game offers the chance to change the world - there are corrupt kings to depose, conspiracies to uncover, damsels (and knights) in distress, betrayals to prevent...and much more. More members are welcome.
