Reporting to Parents
A
student’s education is a shared responsibility between home and
school and we always strive for maximum co-operation and communication
between the two. Parents receive a detailed report on their child’s
progress each year and have the opportunity to meet with teaching staff
at an annual Parents’ Evening and Form Tutors at a Tutor Review Day.
A progress report card and a report will be issued at different points
in the year. Staff are willing to discuss student progress at all other
times during the year. (See Home-School Agreement)
Public Examination Entry Policy
The school
policy on examination entries is that all students who, in our professional
judgement, are likely to gain a pass grade, will be entered
for the appropriate examination. Students and parents are consulted prior
to entries being confirmed. Once a student has been entered for an examination
they are expected to complete all components of the course, otherwise the
cost of entry will be passed on to their parents.
Religious Education and Collective Worship
Religious
Education and collective worship are organised and taught so as to neither
exclude
nor offend anyone and to include and embrace everyone.
Calder High School is not affiliated to any particular religion or religious
denomination. The National Curriculum requires all students to take part
in Religious Education and collective worship unless withdrawn by parents
who, in the first instance, should contact the Headteacher to discuss any
concerns.
Complaints Procedure
Should parents have any complaint about an aspect of school life they are
asked to contact their child’s Form Tutor in the first instance.
Heads of Year and Deputy Headteachers are available to assist as necessary.
Should the outcome remain unsatisfactory, parents are asked to contact
the Headteacher. Complaints relating to the content of the curriculum
and matters relating to Religious Education and collective acts of worship
should be made to the Headteacher in the first instance. If a complaint
cannot be resolved at this level it may be referred to the Governing
Body by contacting the Clerk to the Governors, Christine Welch.
