VI Courses (2012/13 Course booklet)
A considerable range of both traditional academic and innovative new courses of study are available. To give an example of the kind of choices available, a student wishing to study IT as a subject has a considerable range of qualification level and mode of study to choose from, namely AS/A2, AVCE, Part 1 Intermediate and Key Skills Level 1, 2 or 3, not to mention Computer-Aided-Design GCSE.( Year 12 Option blocks / Provisional Courses for 2012 to 2013 )
Given this flexibility, Calder VI can construct a curriculum to suit each student's strengths and targets whatever their previous academic attainment. GCSE results are important, though. For instance, in order to study Advanced AS/A2 and AVCE courses, a student needs to have achieved 4 or 5 GCSEs at Grade C or above. However, Calder VI considers every applicant on their individual merits in deciding on appropriate courses and level of study.
