As part of Calder High School the sixth form benefits from the Specialist Technology College status which in real terms means extra funding and extra resources.

The traditional strengths of the school, close support and monitoring with high expectation meet a breadth of curriculum and opportunity untypical of school six forms.

Thus we have perhaps the core of what makes Calder VI so special. It is a fusion of the rigour of a traditional VI form with the range of opportunity previously only afforded by a college.
